Professor Jim Woodcock

Head of Department 2012-2016

Professor Jim Woodcock FREng graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1980 with a BSc in Computation.

From 1990 until 2001, Jim was Professor of Software Engineering and Director of the Centre of Excellence, University of Oxford. 

He was appointed a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng) in 2011. 

Joining the University of York in 2004, Jim was Head of Department in Computer Science from 2012 - 2016, he continues his research in the Department today.

Jim cites his research interests as Strong software engineering, grand challenge in dependable systems evolution, Verified Software Initiative, Unifying Theories of Programming, Systems of Systems, and software engineering in healthcare.
