Dr Katrina Attwood
Senior Lecturer

Katrina Attwood came to Computer Science via a somewhat circuitous route, with diversions through English Literature, linguistics, Anglo-Saxon stone sculpture and Old Norse Philology. After a period as a lecturer in the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Newcastle, she decided that the future of philology was too bleak to contemplate, and took an MSc in the Computer Science Department at York.

Katrina now works as a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science. Her teaching centres on Human-Computer Interaction and Safety Engineering (specifically Human Factors in the context of safety-critical systems engineering). Katrina is also the Chair, Board of Studies in Computer Science.

Katrina has interests in the intersection between natural language and engineering: specifically requirements engineering, safety assurance, machine translation etc.. She's also interested in the ethical and social implications of technology, in the broadest sense.

Oh yes - and she still edits Old Norse Christian poems, from time to time.
