Accepted proposals will be included in efforts to advertise ALBERT, the YorRobots CDT, to prospective students, who will be able to apply for a funded position in ALBERT.
This is an exciting opportunity to foster novel cross-disciplinary research in laboratory automation.
The ALBERT CDT focuses on the development of the science, engineering, and soci-technology underpinning robots for laboratory automation for Chemistry and related sciences.
Timeline for applications
- Deadline for PhD project proposal submission: 3 November 2023
- Acceptance notification: 10 November 2023
- ALBERT CDT online introductory session: 20 November 2023
- Prospective student application deadline: 5 January 2024
- Supervisor candidate nominations: 9 February 2024
- Offer decisions: 15 February 2024
Projects should have at least two supervisors from the University, involving at least two different Departments. Proposals need to explain the relationship between the project and the CDT, and should be appealing to candidates wishing to pursue an interdisciplinary research project work across different fields.
Supervisors of selected projects will present their project to prospective students at an online introductory session on Monday 20 November 2023, which will be recorded and made publicly available.
Student candidates will need to apply through the department of the lead supervisor. Student interviews will follow guidelines of the lead supervisor's Department, which will require one member of the ALBERT CDT committee to sit in. Further details will be made available in due course.
