Getting to YDS

The Computer Science department has recently moved to a new campus – Heslington East. YDS 2010 will be the first major event to take place in the new Computer Science building.

Train or Bus

We have made a visual guide to reach the conference by bus from the train station:

For those travelling from the old campus, Heslington West, you can jump on either the 4 or 44 for free between the two campuses.

Accommodation

York offers many hotels, ranging from cheap and cheerful to expensive and elegant. We recommend you find a hotel that is either near the train station or on the bus route, to make it easier for you to get to the university. The university also offers some very reasonable (but limited) accommodation on campus, which can be found here.

Lunch

We shall be having lunch in the Quarks restaurant, located in the National Science Learning Centre on Heslington West. We’ll be jumping on the free bus (4 or 44) between the two campuses, getting off at the Library stop (under the bridge). There will be some conference organisers to direct people to and from the buses and Quarks. This page will be updated with times when the programme is finalised.

Conference Banquet

The conference banquet shall be held at the beautiful Rustique. There are a limited places so register early to ensure you get a seat! You’ll be required to choose your meal during the registration process.

To get to rustique, take the number 4 to the Clifford Street bus stop (right next to York Dungeon) and follow the directions here. To return to the university after dinner, the bus stop can be found on Clifford Street on the opposite side of the road, next to the Go Down restaurant.
