The University of York is a stimulating place to study and provides excellent learning resources to support your academic work. 

Our modern Computer Science building is on Campus East, which is home to four academic departments: Computer Science; Theatre, Film and Television; the Management School; and the Law School. 

How will you be taught?

You will be taught by academics at the cutting edge of their field, so you are up to date with the latest in Computer Science. We are proud of our high staff-student ratio, giving you quality time with academic staff and easy access to your supervisor.

Our strong links with industry ensure our courses are up to date in such a dynamic and fast-moving industry. Industry also provides us with excellent placements, to help you put into practice what you have learnt in your degree.


What are the facilities like?

In addition to the superb Library and IT Services offered to every student by the University, the Department of Computer Science provides excellent facilities to both students and staff.

We are home to several dedicated undergraduate and postgraduate software laboratories, as well as two hardware laboratories. We also have several research labs, including the Robot Lab, the Dark Lab and the Interactive Home Laboratory.

Ron Cooke Hub

Need space to study or want to meet with friends? Situated right next door to Computer Science is the Ron Cooke Hub with its inspiring light-filled atrium. This building has study space available to use 24 hours a day, and a café serving a variety of snacks and light meals.

Just a short walk away in Langwith College is The Glasshouse. Open during the day and into the evening, The Glasshouse is a great place to grab a coffee while studying, turning into a lively bar in the evening for drinks and late-night food.
