Call for Satellite Events (Workshops and Tutorials)
Software Technologies: Applications and Foundations (STAF) is a federation of a number of the leading conferences on software technologies. It was formed after the end of the successful TOOLS federated event (http://tools.ethz.ch) in 2012, providing a loose umbrella organisation, with a steering committee that aims to provide continuity.
The STAF federated event runs annually; the conferences that participate may vary from year to year, but all focus on practical and foundational advances in software technology. The conferences address all aspects of software technology, from object-oriented design, testing, mathematical approaches to modelling and verification, transformation, model-driven engineering, aspect-oriented techniques, and tools.
STAF 2014 will bring together the 7th International Conference on Model Transformation (ICMT), the 7th International Conference on Graph Transformation (ICGT), the 10th European Conference on Modelling Foundations and Applications (ECMFA), and the 8th International Conference on Tests and Proof (TAP).
STAF 2014 will also host a number of satellite events (workshops and tutorials) during 21st-25th July, 2014. Workshops will provide a collaborative forum for groups of typically 15 to 30 participants to exchange recent and/or preliminary results, to conduct intensive discussions on a particular topic, or to coordinate efforts between representatives of a technical community. They are intended as a forum for lively discussion of innovative ideas, recent progress, or practical experience on model-driven engineering for specific aspects, specific problems, or domain-specific needs. Each workshop should provide a balanced distribution of its time for both presentation of papers and discussions. We encourage prospective workshop organizers to submit proposals for highly-interactive workshops focusing on areas related to modeling in general. Both research-oriented and applied topics are welcome. The duration of each workshop is either one day or half a day. Tutorials must cover advanced topics that fit the scope of STAF and are of current interest to the STAF community. Tutorials may be lectures, interactive workshops, hands-on training, or any combination of the above. Exploring diverse ways of interacting with the audience is welcome as are cross-disciplinary topics. Tutorials will need to attract at least 5 registered participants to ensure their financial viability.

Satellite Event Proposal Guidelines
Your proposal document must contain the following information:
- General Information
- Event title
- Event type (workshop/tutorial)
- Organizers and primary contact (name/affiliation/email)
- Abstract (200 words), intended for the STAF 2014 web site
- Objectives and Scope
- Intended audience
- Relevance (in particular to the STAF community)
- Previous events (including, where applicable, the number of submitted and accepted papers, and the number of attendees), previous sessions, and previous experience of the current organizers
- Organization Details
- Details on the organizers (150 words max each), including relevant past experience in workshop/tutorial organization
- Workshop program committee (workshops only)
- Would you be willing to merge your workshop with other workshops on a similar topic if this were a condition for hosting your workshop at STAF? (workshops only)
- First and second choices for the date of the event; indicate possible conflicts with STAF 2014 conferences (those that a significant number of potential event participants will want to attend)
- Workshop/Tutorial Format
- Intended paper format (number of pages; types of paper, e.g., full-papers, work-in-progress papers, practitioners' reports, posters) (workshops only)
- Paper evaluation process (workshops only)
- Intended publication of accepted papers (printed proceedings or Web site) (workshops only)
- Intended workshop format (including duration, number of presentations, and planned keynotes, panels, etc.) (workshops only)
- Intended tutorial format (lecture along with slides, hands-on exercises, group problem solving sessions, etc.) (tutorials only)
- Intended audience, its assumed background, and its expected expertise level (beginner, intermediate or advanced)
- How many participants do you expect (please make at least an educated guess)?
- What kind of equipment do you need (e.g., data projector, computer, whiteboard, reliable internet connection)?

Please ensure that you adhere to the above workshop/tutorial proposal guidelines providing all requested information using at most six pages (not including the draft Call for Papers).
Submit your satellite event proposal electronically in PDF using the Springer LNCS style.

Proposals will be selected based on their relevance to the conferences aims, beneficiaries, and timely advances in their respective topics. In particular, proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- The potential to advance the state of research and practice
- The organizers commitment to arrange for sensible digital and permanent post-meeting proceedings (workshops only)
- The organizers' experience and ability to lead a successful event
- Timeliness and expected interest in the event topics
- The balance and synergy between the proposed events
- The continuity of previous years events
Workshops will need to make individual arrangements regarding publishing their proceedings.
