This paper discusses the goals of the MADES project, which aims to use techniques of model-driven development to assist the development of complex embedded systems. Three main areas are covered by MADES - the development of embedded software; the development of embedded hardware; and the verification and validation of the system. This paper presents an early example of the MADES model transformations being used to generate synthesisable VHDL descriptions from high-level UML MARTE models.
