Assuring Autonomy International Programme

The Assuring Autonomy International Programme is advancing the safety of robotics and autonomous systems (RAS) across the globe.

Funded by: The University of York, and:

It is a £12million partnership between Lloyd’s Register Foundation and the University of York that is working with an international community of developers, regulators, researchers and others to ensure the public can benefit from the safe, assured and regulated introduction and adoption of RAS.

The programme is:

  • addressing core technical issues underlying the assurance of RAS through foundational research in York
  • funding demonstrator projects
  • delivering training and education
  • creating freely accessible guidance for developers, regulators and others to use to support the safety assurance of their autonomous systems.
Featured researcher

John McDermid

Professor McDermid's research interests are safety-critical systems, safety engineering, safety of autonomy and robotics, impact of cyber security on safety and software engineering for high integrity systems.
