Greetings: Thanks to all of you for your work on OCL and particularly for posting your submission draft when you did. [ i did not send this message to Jonas Högström, Heinrich Hussmann or Simon Johnston, as i did not have an address for the first two and was not sure which Simon this was. i guessed at Steffen Zschaler's address. ] We have discarded our work and are now rewriting, so that our submission will be in the form of a few proposed extensions to the language in your submission, and will be based on your submission. The extensions we propose are intended to make it possible to specify an entire model in OCL. We do not expect that all modelers will rush to do that, they will still prefer to use pictures and fill in forms, but we do expect it will have two advantages. It will: -- allow precise specification of all of UML -- enable precise specification of the meaning of a UML model That will have many advantages, one of which will be that it will give formalists firmer ground for work on UML. This will be great help for revising UML 2.0 and getting it closer to right with UML 3.0. ... Our submission will not be ready until the weekend or Monday. www.community-ML.org Joaquin Miller Chief Architect Financial Systems Architects mailto:joaquin@acm.org http://community-ML.org Oakland, California phone: +1 (510) 336-2545 fax: +1 (510) 336-2546 PGP Fingerprint: CA23 6BCA ACAB 6006 E3C3 0E79 2122 94B4 E5FD 42C3
