In my understanding, there can be links without association. Associations describe structural relationships between objects. A link, for example created through passing an object as an argument to a method invocation, can exist without corresponding association. To cover such cases, I think, the somewhat vague concept of "dependency" is to be used, for example, "use-dependency". Dirk
