Human Computer Interaction

Andrew Simpson
Research Student

I have diverse interests in Clinical Science, Computer Science & Software Engineering. I am currently studying Human Computer Interaction within Healthcare for my MSc (Research) Computer Science thesis.

  • BSc (Hons) Computing and Networks, 2011.
  • MSc (Research) Computer Science, On-going.

I currently work in the Clinical Measurement section of the Medical Physics Department at James Cook University Hospital as a Pre-Registration Clinical Scientist in Physiological Measurement & Computing (working towards Health Care Professions Council - HCPC - Clinical Scientist Registration) where I perform physiological measurements on patients in theatres and wards, and apply my computer science skills to develop physiological measurement & medical software.

Alongside this I am currently studying a part-time MSc (By Research) in Computer Science. My research focuses on Human Computer Interaction at the University of York, and applying this to my work at The James Cook University Hospital.

My next steps are to advance my career in Medical Physics (Clinical Measurement) and study a PhD in Computer Science or enter the NHS Higher Specialist Scientific Training (HSST) DClinSci programme, to become eligible for consultant clinical scientist posts.
