York KTP Associate shortlisted for prestigious award

A University of York KTP Associate has been nominated as a finalist in this year’s Future Innovators Category at the Knowledge Transfer Partnership Awards.


Alex Komninos is shortlisted for the KTP Best of the Best Awards 2020

Dr Alex Komninos is a finalist at the KTP Best of the Best Awards 2020 for his outstanding achievements at IBM where he has developed model-based and machine learning methods and tools which transform spreadsheets into cognitive models. 

The project has delivered results ahead of schedule and four patents have been filed with Alex named as an inventor.

Alex’s Associate position is a key part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership between the Department of Computer Science at the University of York and IBM. The partnerships are designed to help organisations improve their competitiveness, productivity, performance and profitability by tapping into the knowledge, skills and expertise in UK universities.

The winners will be revealed at a “Virtual” Ceremony on Wednesday 9 September.
