Exciting development for PhD study

Distance learning news item

The Department of Computer Science is pleased to announce the introduction of PhD study by distance learning from October 2016.  The programme will be available on a full-time (3 years), or part-time (six years) basis.

Attendance requirements at the University are two weeks at the start of enrolment, then two one-weeks visits per annum, as well as the PhD viva.

Students are welcome however, and encouraged to spend time at York, for instance to engage in research group activities and training courses, or take part in the York Doctoral Symposium.

Students that take a degree by research in Computer Science work closely with one of our internationally respected research groups.  They define an area of study, and work with one of our world leading academics as their supervisor. Students become a member of one of our established research groups, and benefit from the accumulated knowledge and resources of your colleagues.
