Is the navigation menu consistent between different webpages? (NAV08)

Why Is This Important?

Uniformity of the navigation menu helps the user to know what to expect, especially users who are blind or have low vision or cognitive impairments. If the navigation menu is different from page to page, either in terms of the items it contains, the order of the items, or the appearance of the items, this may confuse and disorientate the user. By ensuring that the navigation menu is used consistently throughout a website, such confusion can be avoided.

How To Fix The Problem

Ensure that the navigation menu is consistent across each page of a website. The same navigation options should appear on each page and they should appear in the same order. The wording of the items should be the same from page to page and the appearance of the items should not change, other than to indicate the current page. The navigation menu should also appear in the same position on each page.
