Is there a time limit on completing the form? (FAC23)

Why Is This Important?

Many users don't want to be hurried! They may use assistive technologies or have slow or limited movement. People with visual or cognitive disabilities may require additional time to read and understand a webpage or to carry out activities such as filling in a form. If the webpage has a time limit, it may be difficult for certain users to carry out the activity in the required time.

How To Fix The Problem

Ideally, designing webpages that are not time-dependent will help users complete their tasks. However, if time limits have to exist, they should be controllable, in an accessible way. Users should not feel pressurised to complete transactions - apart from a general sense of discomfort, this can also lead to unnecessary errors. Therefore, they be able to set an appropriate time or request additional time. Furthermore, they should be able to do this via a preferences setting or other accessible control.
