Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in Artificial Intelligence - University of York, UK

This is a 2 year, fixed term post in which you will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate computer science, particularly in the area of Artificial Intelligence. The AI material in the programme is taught by staff whose research is internationally excellent/outstanding in an integrated way with the rest of the CS material (e.g. [choice of] programming languages or [the need for/benefits of] concurrency). This combines solid theoretical foundations with practical skills that should allow the students attending/taking the AI-designated options/modules to match classes of problems to their appropriate representations; represent relevant knowledge using up-to-date, scalable, open formalisms, such as ontologies; designate a space of potential solutions and search through it using a variety of algorithms; apply machine learning approaches to model data and make predictions; and have general awareness about some of the ethical and legal challenges associated with the use of AI.

The role provides an excellent means for aspiring academics to obtain teaching experience to help in securing a permanent faculty position in the future.
