Past activities include:

  • Current activities include: the CLASSAC project.

  • The PROFI project: an EU FP6-IST project to develop a trademark retrieval system.   The PROFI project is a collaboration involving: Aktor Knowledge Technology, Belgium; Free University of Berlin, Germany; Utrecht University, Netherlands; and University of York, UK

  • Develop tests and software support libraries for PRESENCE-2's new hardware support layer SIRL.
  • An industrial collaborative project aimed at optimising a grid-based Java proxy-JDBC driver, which resulted in a tenfold performance improvement.
  • Hardware-based text mining architectures.

  • High performance image matching system, using AURA grey-scale N-tuple techniques.
  • UFO project - debugging and testing the UFO C compiler tools and UFO core processor.

  • the FEDAURA Project - a combined DTI Management of Information Programme and EPSRC project to develop and evaluate new computerised methods for automated fraud detection; and, developing a document retrieval system within a neural network framework.

  • AURA 2 Project - investigating distributed AURA methods using multiple PRESENCE-1 cards in a cluster.

Michael holds a BEng Hons degree in Computer Engineering from University of Teesside and an MPhil in Electronics from University of Teesside.
