AMADEUS

Aims

The £3.5M AMADEUS initiative, funded by the DTI NWTM programme and a consortium of industrial partners, represents one of seven Virtual Research Centres in the UK. The DTI Next Wave Programme is part of a larger programme announced in 2001 by the Rt. Hon. Patricia Hewitt Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, and Minister for Women and Equality (formerly Minister for Small Business and e-Commerce at the Department of Trade and Industry 1999-2001).

The chief aim of AMADEUS is to develop component technologies for future pervasive computing environments. Such components will typically be hardware IP cores, but will occasionally include modular software technologies.

AMADEUS seeks to develop particular component technologies in the following areas:-

Ultimately, AMADEUS aims to develop and exploit component technologies that will facilitate the rapid development of sophisticated ubiquitous computing systems, and to develop demonstrators and systems which exemplify these technologies.
