Dr Simon O'Keefe

Deputy Head of Department with responsibility for teaching

We cover a broad range of topics – from software to hardware, from theory to practice and from core science to a wide variety of applications. We also offer diverse programmes of study - first degrees for undergraduates, higher degrees for postgraduates and also part-time or occasional courses for professional development and training.

We welcome students from all backgrounds, of all ages and from countries all over the world. Our aim is to provide a dynamic and welcoming academic community, in which we encourage students to play an active part.

One measure of the success of our teaching programmes is what they lead to for our students. More than 95% of our undergraduates and over 97% of our postgraduates go on to graduate level jobs or further study within six months of leaving York. Some, like myself, find University life suits them and take up posts in academic research and teaching.

You can read more about some of the successes our students have gone on to achieve – including where they went on to work, and how their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from York helped them to do so.
