In addition, each vetter must consider the set of projects from each setter and the whole of their vetting load:
Student-defined projects are those prepared by a setter for a particular student, AND submitted for vetting after the normal deadline for vetting.
Setters must notify their vetter that they have an student-defined project to be vetted. Vetters moderate the project as usual, but paying very careful attention to the viability and technical content of the proposed project. Vetters would normally then discuss their findings with the setter: in a student-defined project, there is almost always some waffle, uncertainty, or lack of precision to be sorted out.
