The department organises a summer internship programme for international students, aiming to give students the opportunity to work on leading-edge research within one of the department's research groups.
Internships are 6-12 weeks long, usually from April to June, but different arrangements are also possible. Students can expect direct supervision by a member of the academic staff, who will define the internship project and provide supervision on a weekly basis.
Examples of past year's internship projects include:

We will notify you if we decide to offer you an internship. Every year, the department provides some support to help with travel and accommodation costs. This is usually allocated as 2-3 grants of £2000 each.If you are allocated one of those grants, this will be clearly stated on the notification you will receive from us. If you do not receive a grant from the Department, you will have to find other sources of funding to finance your internship.
If you have additional questions about the process, email us using the address below. If you have questions about specific internship projects, please contact the supervisors directly.
