Internationalisation Strategy
Overview
Internationalisation is one of the strategic
priorities of the University of York. To reflect that, the Department of Computer
Science has assigned a member of the academic staff to act as
internationalisation advisor with the following responsibilities:
- periodically assess the situation of international students
(meetings, online surveys) of the Department and take proactive measures
to avoid issues related to adapting and coping with a new environment;
- organise information about international cooperation activities
within the Department (joint/double degree courses, student and/or
faculty exchange, large research projects), aiming to increase their
visibility and support the planning of future structured cooperation
actions by the Department;
- provide feedback to the university bodies - specifically the
International Steering Group and the International Forum - about
potential problems or shortcomings of the university policies regarding
international students, international standing of the university and
globalisation;
- support and advertise the services and activities of the Student Support Office and the International Office;
- organise the department's summer internship programme for overseas students.
