Location

By Car

The city is at the junction of the A19, A59, A64 and A1079 trunk roads. The University is well signposted from the Outer Ring Road, which comprises the A64 and A1237.

By Train

York has excellent rail connections. The city is on the East Coast Main Line which joins London (about 2 hours travel) and Edinburgh. Railtrack provides a comprehensive on-line timetable service for the UK.

By Bicycle

York is on the Sustrans network of cycle paths, and is easily reachable by bicycle from all directions. The environs of York are exceptionally well provided with "bicycle-friendly" country roads and urban cycle paths and lanes.

The University is an easy 15-minute cycle ride from the railway station.

By Air

The nearest international airports are Leeds-Bradford airport and Manchester airport. There is a direct rail link between York and Manchester airport.

By Bus

A frequent (4 an hour during the day) bus service (number 4 and 5) operates between the railway station and the University. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Timetables for the First York bus company are available on-line.

By Taxi
