The HISE group presents CPD courses to practitioners in the Field of Safety Critical Systems and System Safety Engineering. For instance, in March 2005 a one-week short course called "Introduction to System Safety Engineering" was presented (The flyer will tell you more) to attendees from a range of industries. It is intended to repeat this course in 2006.
There are no special entry requirements for those wishing to take these public courses. The courses are intended for all safety engineers/managers employed in technical or management roles and with responsibilities for safety engineering or management of safety related or safety critical projects. Attendance would also benefit regulators or customers of safety related / critical systems who may have to oversee such projects.
Attendees receive copies of:
The courses qualify as activities under the IEE and BCS CPD schemes.
These public courses are closely linked with our tailored CPD courses for industry and the Department's MSc and Certificate courses in Safety Critical Systems Engineering. Public courses which cover a suitable range and depth of material may be counted as equivalent to MSc or Certificate course modules, giving exemption from those modules for attendees who subsequently register for the full MSc or Certificate (satisfactory completion of an assessment, and payment of an examination fee will be required).
