Engineering Doctorate Centre

The LSCITS Engineering Doctorate Centre at the University of York operates the doctoral training programme, an Engineering Doctorate, of the UK National Research and Training Initiative in Large Scale Complex IT Systems. The programme is generously supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and a variety of other industrial and public-sector Sponsoring Organisations.

An Engineering Doctorate (EngD) is a four-year postgraduate award intended for the UK’s leading Research Engineers who want a managerial career in industry. It is s radical alternative to the traditional PhD, being better suited to the needs of industry, and providing a more vocationally oriented Doctorate in Engineering.

The LSCITS EngD is a University of York programme, which involves teaching from the Universities of Bristol, Leeds, Oxford and St Andrews.

There are several exciting sponsored opportunites available and EPSRC funding is available subject to eligibility.
