Proposed policy for using JBM funds(¶)
- Proposal
- Comments on the proposal
- The library will normally hold at
most one copy of the latest edition of non-teaching
books.
- While funds permit, any recommended book which
the JBML subject librarian deems to be not-too-expensive and which is
remotely in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology
will be purchased. Books not in this category will be bought at
the discretion of the Computer Science representative to the Library
Committee; where other departments have an interest in the book a
contribution will be expected.
Journal subscriptions
- Journals with high year-on-year costs(¤) will not be considered.
- The priority for subscribing to journals of
acceptable cost is:
- Journals which members of this department publish in.
- Journals which members of this department regularly cite.
- All other journals under rules similar to those
above.
Book series
- The library will subscribe to series of books (for example LNCS, or the proceedings
of major conferences) under the above rules for research texts or journals.
Teaching texts
- The library will hold approximately one copy
of the main course text for each ten students taking
a module.(*)
- One copy of the main text will be ordinary loan; all
remaining copies will be short term loan (yellow band).(*)
- From the start of the module until the last examination for that
module at least one of the short term loan copies will be held in the
reserve
collection.(§)
- During open examinations at least one copy of every key text and
paper will be held in the reserve
collection.(§)
