Simon Davidson

Simon was a senior researcher, currently developing a standard hardware interface, SIRL, for the group’s high-performance development card, Presence-2.

His research interests include efficient, highly-parallel, computation using neural networks and automated processor and system design.

Before returning to academia, Simon spent many years in industry as a micro-processor and ASIC designer, first at STMicroelectronics in Bristol, then Hewlett Packard in Grenoble, France. Most recently he was a principal engineer at ARC International in London, developers of configurable processor IP, where he was technical lead on a number of major projects including the development of the ARCompact instruction set and the Tangent-A5 processor.

Simon holds a BEng (Hons) and a PhD in electronic engineering, both from Sheffield University.
